Coordinator of the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) Boyamin Saiman mentions the Deputy Chairman of the KPK Lili Pintauli Siregar so the spotlight and even the world’s laughter related to ethical violations that have been committed.
Boyamin has this opinion in response to reports on the practice of Human Rights (HAM) in Indonesia issued by the United States (US) Department of State.
“Simply put, Lili Pintauli Siregar’s thick face has become the laughing stock of the international community because she has been convicted of violating the code of ethics but is still doing it again,” said Boyamin in a written statement, Sunday (17/4).
In a report published by the US titled 2021 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices: Indonesia, one of the highlights was the decision of the KPK Supervisory Board for the ethical violation of Lili Pintauli Siregar.
In its report, the US stated that Lili was proven to have violated ethics on August 30, 2021 because she had contact with litigants at the KPK, namely the former Mayor of Tanjungbalai who was involved in a bribery case. Lili was judged to have taken advantage of her position and was sentenced to a 40 percent reduction in her basic salary.
According to Boyamin, the US report became important for Lili to immediately resign from her position as deputy chairman of the KPK. The reason is, Lili is now in the international spotlight.
“I ask, urge Mrs. Lili to resign from the KPK because this will continue to be in the spotlight of the modern state, other countries, and the public spotlight because Mrs. Lili becomes useless and not useful for the KPK,” said Boyamin.
Boyamin admitted that he was not surprised if Lili’s ethical violations were also in the US spotlight. He believes the US is a country that cares about the behavior of state officials.
In the case of Lili, Boyamin considered it unusual when a state official violated ethics but chose not to step down. There has been no comment from Lili regarding Boyamin’s statement. CNNIndonesia.com is still trying to get a response from Lili regarding Boyamin’s statement.
“Moreover, (the violation) is repeated and not only violates ethics but with a thick face, does not back down, with a thick face he remains in his position,” he said.
