On Tuesday evening, a danger warning for snow has been reported in Western Norway. It is particularly the areas around Bergen and to the south that you have to find the snow drawer.

The Norwegian Meteorological Institute warns of between 5–15 cm of snow in outer regions and 15–25 cm in inner regions in Western Norway. Along the coast, there can also be both sleet and hail.

– Safe objects that cannot withstand the amount of snow, recommends state meteorologist Leonidas Tsopouridis.

According to meteorologist on duty Bente Whal, Møre and Romsdal, Trøndelag, Troms and Finnmark can also expect snow showers tomorrow.

– It could be a bit of chaos

The snowy weather may also have consequences for traffic going forward. Tsopouridis encourages Westerners to calculate plenty of time for work tomorrow.

– If there is more snow tonight and tomorrow morning, there could be a bit of chaos, he says.

The snowfall on Monday caused problems for traffic in Oslo and Viken:

Sun in sight

Despite the expected amounts of snow, you can soon pack away the snowblower. On Wednesday morning, the thermometer creeps upwards and the sun peeks out over southern Norway.

– The snow will melt throughout the day, says Tsopouridis.

However, the joy is short-lived. According to Tsopouridis, it may be a long time until the next sunny day.

– I recommend enjoying the sun tomorrow!

Further north, however, it will be nicer later in the week. Wahl predicts that the areas around Trondheim will have their finest day on Thursday this week, while Tromsø will have its finest weather on Friday.

– Stormy day

On Thursday, southern Norway can expect another storm. According to Tsopouridis, there is a strong low pressure in Great Britain which is moving towards the Norwegian coast. This can lead to winds of 25 meters per second and waves of seven to eight metres.

– Probability of storm, says Tsopouridis.

According to Wahl, we can expect snow drifts, strong winds and closed mountain passes in southern Norway between Thursday and Friday morning.

– Thursday will be a stormy day, she says.

According to Tsopouridis, there is also reason to check the road conditions in the lowlands on Thursday morning. Overnight, the temperature will be below 0 degrees, and the roads may become slippery. He urges caution in traffic.

– Use the right tires and drive carefully.

– Milder, wetter, greyer

Even though the storm has calmed down, we can look far for sun, warmth and outdoor fun. With the low pressure comes milder temperatures and gray weather. Tsopouridis describes familiar and beloved Westland weather in the future.

– Milder, wetter and greyer. Typical Bergen weather.

Now the snow is coming – again!
