Like the movie ‘Inception’, you and your friends can meet each other in your dreams… Successful communication within your dreams

Perhaps, like in the movie ‘Inception’, in the near future we will be able to communicate with others in our dreams without waking up.

Recently, there was news that an experiment to communicate with each other while dreaming was successful.

According to online media UNILAD on the 15th, REMspace, a sleep research company in California, USA, announced on the 8th that for the first time in the world, two sleeping people succeeded in communicating in their dreams.

This reminds me of the movie ‘Inception’.

Director Christopher Nolan’s movie ‘Inception’, released in 2010, is about entering someone’s dream and stealing their thoughts through a mechanical device.

Characters in movies sometimes enter other people’s dreams and have conversations, or enter another dream while asleep.

RemSpace reported that in an experiment on the 24th of last month, two participants who were sleeping in their own homes succeeded in exchanging messages in their dreams through brain waves and polysomnography data used to identify sleep disorders.

The company explained that messages were exchanged sequentially during the lucid dream experience.

‘Lucid dreaming’ refers to the state of being aware that one is dreaming while sleeping.

This generally occurs during the REM sleep stage, when dreams are most vivid. Participants in this experiment said that they often had lucid dreams.

The company’s researchers measured several body signals, including brain waves (EEG), while the two participants slept.

And when one of them entered a lucid dream, he sent words to a central system linked to the participants via sensors.

The transmitted words were written in a special language called ‘Remmyo’, which decodes sounds made in dreams through a facial electromyography sensor previously developed by the researchers.

The central system relayed the word ‘Zhilak’ to the subjects, who repeated the word out loud in their dreams. The sensor collected this and transmitted it back to the central system.

About eight minutes later, the second participant also reached lucid dreaming. In his dream, he heard the same word ‘Jillak’ from the central system as the first participant and repeated it out loud.

This second participant said the word ‘Jilak’ as soon as he woke up.

“This signifies successful communication between two people in a dream state,” said RemSpace CEO and founder Michael Radu. “The concept was successfully achieved.”

He then predicted, “In the future, this technology will become so common that we will not be able to imagine life without it.”

He emphasized that the success of this experiment was achieved after five years of research and technology development.

Ramspace previously announced that it had confirmed that it was possible to transmit words and songs in real time in dreams and control avatars, trucks, and smart homes in the virtual world.

but It has been reported that the company has not yet verified whether the experiment was truly successful.
