Similar to the accident of the singer Ramy Sabry’s brother, the tragic scene was repeated about a year later, when an inmate escaped from an addiction treatment clinic and drowned in the Mariouteya Canal, south of Giza, on Tuesday.
The beginning dates back to the official of the Civil Protection Operations Room in Giza receiving a signal from the Rescue Police Department that thick fumes and flames rose from one of the facilities in the Arab al-Ash area in the village of Shubra Mint.
Major General Jaber Bahaa, Director of the General Administration of Civil Protection in Giza, sent fire trucks, led by his deputy, in coordination with Major General Abdel Rahman Sukkar, Director of the South Sector.
The examination revealed that a fire had broken out inside an addiction treatment clinic, which sparked a state of panic among the inmates, so they fled until one of them jumped into the Mariouteya canal adjacent to the clinic.
A person tried to save the young man, but to no avail, and the people were able to recover the body on the opposite side, while the Civil Protection put out the fire and carried out the cooling process, with a committee from the criminal laboratory assigned to inspect, and the policemen kept the officials in charge of the sanatorium.
