The WILD WINGS play strong, but do not get any points in Bremerhaven.
What a strange evening in the ice rink in Bremerhaven. Schwenningen makes a good away game and in the end goes home with a defeat. Above all, the appearance should give courage that you continue to have everything in your own hands when it comes to the allocation of playoff places. The performance was too strong, despite the disgusting course of the game, over the entire 60 minutes.
Good performance, mediocre score.
What kind of first third of WILD WINGS was that ?! 15 to 7 shots on goal, 14 to 8 in the face-off circle and also optically the superiority of the guests was overwhelming. Only the result showed a different picture. Bremerhaven led and nobody knew exactly why. Schwenningen came out of the locker room well and aggressively and dictated the game from the start. Maximilian Hadraschek had the first big chance in the 4th minute of the game after the strong Troy Bourke had stolen the disc and put it across. Four minutes later, the guests took a well-deserved lead. Bourke had deflected a shot from Robak unsustainable. Less than 10 seconds later, Fischtwown equalized with the first dangerous closing action. Alexander Friesen was the goal scorer. After that, Schwenningen remained the more dangerous team. Boaz Bassen tipped a Jamie MacQueen disc dangerously, but Brandon Maxwell was there. And then again, out of nowhere, the leadership for Bremerhaven. Carson McMillan took advantage of a slightly too juicy rebound and was able to shoot. Then continued Schwenningen, the only one who couldn’t score another goal.
Insane game in the north.
The penguins got a little stronger in the middle third. But two goals better than Schwenningen ?! No way, the answer would have been if ice hockey wasn’t a results sport. But it was obviously so, because Bremerhaven scored two goals, WILD WINGS none. Once again, the guests were offered the best opportunities to get in. Jamie MacQueen in the 25th minute, Andreas Thuresson (27th minute of the game) or Troy Bourke after just under half an hour, could hardly be reproached, there was simply a lack of fortune. The home side had plenty of that. Captain Michael Moore’s goal in the 27th minute of the game was a pretty crooked thing from the Blue Line. The hit to make it 4: 1 was even more bittersweet. After a good outnumbered game, the disc flew from the attacking third to Jan Urbas, who got out of the cooler and did not allow himself to be asked twice. And so the Pinguins were even three goals better after 40 minutes. Madness, what a grotesque evening so far.
At first they were out of luck and….
Actually, such phrases have no place in serious reporting, but you can’t think of anything more suitable for this course of the game. In the shooting section, the WILD WINGS could already tell that it had to be extremely difficult to get this feature film out of their heads. Nonetheless, Niklas Sundblad’s team did not give up at any phase of this game, but failed again and again due to the outstanding Brandon Maxwell in the goal of the penguins. Only the outnumbered game could have been more resounding, although there were also chances to score. It was not until the 56th minute of the game when Colby Robak finally hit the mark. The Schwenninger threw everything into the match again, but the last push was also in vain. The final score of 5: 2 was characteristic of this evening. Bremerhaven missed the empty goal from its own third, but the pane jumped from the gang directly back onto Niklas Andersen’s trowel, who only had to push it in.
However, if WILD WINGS take the positive out of this game, you can still get something good out of this defeat. Because the guys from Neckar did so many things really well on this strange evening in the far north.
Voice of the game by Benedikt Brückner
“I think we played very, very well and implemented our game plan so far. We may have fired some shots unnecessarily, but in the end Bremerhaven was simply more efficient. They made a lot out of a few chances and on the other hand we needed a lot for few goals. “
Highlight of the game
The willingness to never give up is what sets this Schwenninger team apart. Basically, in the first third you felt like you were in the wrong film. But until the last few seconds, despite the fact that everything seemed to be going against them, the players tried to win the game on their side. Compliments for this courage and willingness to perform.
