Hard contrasts, exciting perspective, like from another time: In this week’s photos, photographer camera66 shows a special snapshot of St. Mark’s Square in Venice. People crowd close together and seem to literally flood the square.
The black and white look reminds a commentator in the gallery of a film by the Italian neorealists. And God knows: The scene could easily have come from a Fellini work, but it was apparently recorded during the Carnival two years ago. The staging in black and white, which blurs the contours between the people, paired with the slight bird’s eye view, however, radiates less cheerfulness than claustrophobic narrowness.
