A modern ceremonial hall evoking the ship Enterprise from the Star Trek series will be built in Týnec nad Sázavou in Central Bohemia. The jury that chose the winning proposal was won over by the concrete structure with its shape, affordable price and glass walls, which can also be opened in the summer.
The building was designed by the studio Ivan Kroupa Architekti and will cost six million crowns. In addition to the memorial building, the investment also includes a new pine grove, benches and lighting.
In the public competition, the jury set two main criteria – interior variability and low construction costs. She chose from a total of five proposals, but decided on the winner unanimously.
“All proposals had their positives and negatives, but this one was the best for both the expert part of the jury and the representatives of the city. We believe that the building will be very variable and will fit well into the cemetery. And most importantly, that people will be able to experience it when saying goodbye to their loved ones , what they want to experience,” says the chief architect of Týnec nad Vltavou, Jan Vaněček, who was part of the jury.
