If no one doubts the extreme competition that will take place the 22 teams invited to Orlando from July 30, the NBA has decided to loosen the belt a little. Insider’s The Athletic, Shams Charania, tells us today how the little pupils of the Grand League can dress during the matches. Players will no longer be required to wear traditional warm-up jackets on the bench. Same for press conferences and media obligations, total freedom granted to players or almost… since they can be satisfied with a small polo shirt in the colors of their franchise. The reason for this reduction is very simple, to prevent players from getting too hot in the Orlando furnace and not to overload the Disney World dressings in eight-piece suits to the greatest dismay of Brodie. For coaches, short or long sleeve polo shirts will be allowed, if the suit is too heavy for the shoulders of some makes a coach sweat too much. For physiological reasons of course, we do not think of Brett Brown who plays his future for the next three months.

Gone are the traditions of several decades with strict and adequate attire for NBA games for everyone. It must be said that the sun is likely to hit very hard on the ceiling of the Disney World Resort Complex, place of the last games of the season. Especially since Florida is not famous for its temperatures close to the Arctic Circle. A decision which was quite logical in the end, taken by Adam Silver, since the light dress code has been in place for several years at the Summer League in Las Vegas in particular. Very big disappointment at not seeing a return of very short old-school shorts and jerseys with Hawaiian flowers in place of the sponsors. Obviously not so open-minded as that, the NBA has still not decreed the “Gérard” law authorizing the GOAT to play shirtless if it returns in the game. It is hoped that this claim will be brought to the offices of the Grand League.
The NBA is blowing a holiday air at Mickey’s, there will be a regional tournament atmosphere in Orlando even if it is a Larry O’Brien trophy that is at stake.
