Oedipus complex
In Greek legend, Oedipus kills his father and then marries his mother Jocasta. Only later does the couple discover they are related. Hangs himself, Oedipus pulls out his eyes. The founder of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud, later introduced the term “Oedipus complex”. What is meant by this is that a child has a particularly close and almost morbid relationship with his mother.
