Public hospitals in Romania, which have been hit hard by a corona wave, are filling to the brim. Operations that are not considered acute are therefore put on hold.
The measure will apply for a month and health personnel will be relocated, the country’s assistant health minister Raed Arafat states.
The number of new daily corona cases in the country has multiplied in a short time, and on Monday there were only three vacancies in the country’s intensive care units.
The vaccination rate in Romania is the second lowest in the EU. Barely one in three inhabitants has received at least one dose of coronary vaccine. To date, 37,000 corona-infected people have died through the pandemic.
