At the end of the 20th day of Ligue 2, FC Lorient won on their lawn against SM Caen (2-1). With this success, Christophe Pelissier’s men temporarily regain the lead in the championship, ahead of RC Lens which will play on Saturday in Guingamp. The Caennais, reduced to ten after 40 minutes of play remain 15th with four points ahead of the first relegation, Niort.
Rainstorms, not to mention the wind, welcomed the two teams on Monday evening. On soggy ground, the Lorient and the Caen weathered the weather. Finally, Lorient had the wind in its sails on its soil. The Bretons (42 points) come back ahead of Lens (40 points) who has a late game to play in Guingamp on Saturday. This is the second defeat under the Dupraz era which saw the top five places move away.
Wissa never lets go
The Hakes were soon to take action. The Goff slipped the ball for Marveaux who immediately threw Wissa on the left side. The latter did not procrastinate and focused on Hamel. The Lorient center-forward cut to the far post and scored their eighth goal of the season (1-0, 6 ’).
Good job! Especially since Lorient recovered well and hampered his Norman adversary, without being superior. Especially since Abergel was doing the irreparable when he shoved Deminguet into the surface. The penalty was indisputable, Pi did not ask questions and hit full axis to deceive Nardi (1-1, 16 ’).
The Caennais were in a hurry and were well in the game. Lorient wanted to start walking again, but it was rather shy. Cabot inherited a long transverse, he chained and put Mbengue in the wind, to place a cross shot that licked the post of Riou, a former member of the Lorient house (25 ’).

Despite a bad lawn, the game was pleasant enough and Deminguet allowed himself to strike hard from the left, but Nardi was in the path of the ball (33 ’). However, the Normans found themselves at ten against eleven when Weber was sent off after a late tackle on Wissa who ran straight to the goal (42 ’). Mr. Rainville logically excluded the last opposing defender. Marveaux’s overworked free kick was unsuccessful (43 ’).
The second period looked promising, the Caennais having shown their fangs before. But reduced to ten, the FCL host would suffer. Laporte addressed a head above the Norman cage (48 ’). Ditto for Hamel after a free kick from Marveaux (53 ’).
Lemoine chained the set kicks, but Riou was watching or the Lorient were too timid at the reception. Abergel used Riou with a powerful strike (57 ’).
The minutes passed and Pascal Dupraz’s players held the tide. Only Lorient got a free kick well placed on the left flank
Lemoine put it in the box. Wissa had to do it twice to beat the porter from Caen. First headed, pushed away by Riou, but the best director had followed and pushed the ball into the goal (2-1, 69 ’) to offer FCL a first success of the year. Lorient is off to a good start, Caen is once again in doubt.
