A forgotten penalty on Sylvestre (52nd) and the combined exclusions of the latter and Kouassi (55th) just before the hour mark remained in effect across the throat of the Palois. These events led to a certain frustration which may seem legitimate as the Béarnais, even if they were trailing (1-2) at that time of the game, had been able to put themselves at the level of a very good Auxerroise team, at the fight for the rise in Ligue 1.
In a packed Nouste Camp, the Palois sometimes suffered, but also carried out quality collective sequences that we had seen too little in recent weeks. At 9 against 11 from the 55th minute, the task had become impossible and Jean-Marc Furlan’s men took the opportunity to give more scope to their victory.
After the defeat in Ajaccio, Pau FC therefore chained a second loss in a row against a team which aims to return to the elite next season. Frustration and disappointment will however quickly have to be put aside since the Palois will be on the bridge again this Tuesday, at Guingamp, on behalf of the 34th day.
