Legend: Gabriel Barès (Montpellier) The 22-year-old has been under contract with Montpellier since January 2022, but it wasn’t enough for a professional appearance. Barès was loaned to Thun last season. It is still unclear whether he will play for HSC in the upcoming season. Freshfocus/Urs Lindt

Interested parties have been queuing for years, now Montpellier has struck at Becir Omeragic. Just 21 years old and having played over 100 top-flight games, he now wants to prove himself in France.
Monaco are also hoping for a lot from their new regular goalie Philipp Köhn. At the same time, the Monegasques will probably not be able to count on Breel Embolo again until next year at the earliest, who tore a cruciate ligament a week before the start of the season. Jordan Lotomba (Nice), Yvon Mvogo (Lorient) and Vincent Sierro (Toulouse) are regulars at their clubs, the future of Gabriel Barès (Montpellier) is still open.
the initial situation
Despite Lionel Messi’s departure and the quarrels about Kylian Mbappé and Neymar (see below): PSG is the clear favorite for the championship this season as well. The million troop from Paris has strengthened again in the summer, including defender Lucas Hernandez from Bayern.
Behind them, among other things, Lens should have a say again. The Racing Club finished last season just 1 point behind champions PSG, surprising the whole of France. Lille, surprise champions of 2021, and the financially strong teams from Nice, Marseille and Monaco are also ready to tickle the Parisian league croesus.
Theater around Mbappé and Neymar
Because in the French capital, not everything is going smoothly, especially behind the scenes. On the one hand, Mbappé’s future has not yet been settled: the superstar does not want to extend his contract, which expires in 2024, so that he can switch to Real Madrid on a free transfer next summer.
Those responsible at PSG are angry. They canceled the training camp in Japan for Mbappé and have now completely thrown the 24-year-old out of the first team squad. If there is no solution, he is threatened with the substitute bench.
With Neymar, another superstar of the team is said to want to change. The Brazilian, who still has a contract until 2025, is drawn back to Barcelona. However, Neymar’s father recently denied the rumours.
