Ligue 1: the date of the resumption postponed later

CONAKRY- As was to be expected, the Guinean Ligue 1 football championship will not resume on November 12, as initially scheduled by the Guinean Professional Football League. The 14 competing clubs will still be patient.

The date of this resumption was later postponed, without giving further details. Rumors about the lack of finances in the League’s coffers that could allow the body to begin the new financial year have circulated, but the LGFP denies these. The League explains that this postponement was requested by competing clubs.

« Clubs have told us of their concerns related to the delay in preparations for the new season. They proposed a two-week postponement, an opportunity for them to better prepare and iron out the final details. The League agreed to the clubs’ request, but the desired two weeks are not possible. We are going to postpone the start for a week. For the moment, we have not yet decided on a precise date. explains a LGFP official contacted by us.

With the schedule for the first leg of the Guinean championship for the new 2023-2024 sporting season already established, clubs know what to expect. With the elections coming to the Guinean Football Federation on November 25, the resumption of Ligue 1 is seriously compromised. Already, the LGFP provisional committee is starting to pack its bags while awaiting the election of the next Féguifoot executive board. A new team should be set up in the League by the future federation.
