Bernard Caiazzo, who represents the interests of the French Ligue 1 clubs as president, fears the corona pandemic will have a massive impact.

“Without state aid, half of the clubs will have to file for bankruptcy within six months,” said Caiazzo of France Bleu Loire. The French football league had already lost 500 to 600 million euros due to the crisis. He was “very, very concerned”.

Caiazzo, who is on the board of AS St. Etienne, does not believe that Ligue 1 will be continued soon. This is possible “at best on June 15”, rather in July or August. But it was “vital to end the season”.
