The current French soccer champion is OSC Lille. The team of coach Christophe Galtier, who started the season as a blatant underdog against Paris Saint-Germain, won the season finale 2-1 at SCO Angers (2-0). Lille’s one-point lead over PSG was thus retained.
Jonathan David (10th minute) scored after good preparatory work by the former Bayern Munich player Renato Sanches, Burak Yilmaz (45th + 1) scored with a penalty. It is the fourth championship for the club and the first since 2011.
The 2-0 (1-0) at Stade Brest didn’t help the Parisians. The goals were scored by Romain Faivre (37th), who deflected a corner into his own net, and Kylian Mbappé (71st).
Neymar fails to achieve a curious penalty.
Neymar, the Brazilian superstar, made for a curious moment when he took a penalty and seemed to be annoyed with the opposing goalkeeper Gautier Larsonneur, who stood and stopped in the right corner of the goal before Neymar’s approach. Neymar got up and after a few seconds of hesitation, shot the ball next to the goal (19th).
PSG had won the title seven times in the past eight seasons (since 2012/2013), only once (2016/2017) it was interrupted by AS Monaco.
The AS Monaco of coach Niko Kova celebrated the Champions League qualification. The Monegasque managed to do this thanks to a 0-0 draw at RC Lens, while rival Olympique Lyon lost 3-2 (2-1) in the parallel game, giving up two leads. Next season, Lyon (4th) and Marseille (5th) will compete in the Europa League.
