A terrible war is raging in Europe. And it is becoming painfully clear to all of us that fossil fuels not only fuel the climate, but also wars. With the Earth Hour on March 26, 2022, we have therefore set an example together with you. For the peace. For climate protection. For our living planet. “Millions of people have set a clearly visible sign for the protection of our livelihoods. And they are probably more threatened than ever before,” says Christoph Heinrich, Director of Nature Conservation at WWF Germany.
With a view to war, the climate crisis and our dependence on fossil fuels, the signal sent out by the Earth Hour is more important than ever. It is probably the largest peaceful climate protection campaign in the world. It stands for bringing people together across borders to protect our earth. We also emphasized this common idea with this year’s Earth Hour.
Our dependence on fossil energies is fueling the climate crisis unabated and financing dictatorships and violations of international law. In order to break through this dependency, we need a consistent and comprehensive expansion of renewable energies.
