The two politicians had made a friendly bet in the opening minutes of the first game of the series.

“Two of the best teams in the NHL are competing right now on the ice … How about a friendly bet?” Trudeau wrote on his Twitter account, to the president’s account. “Alright, my friend,” Biden had told him.

The two leaders had not specified what was going to be at stake, however, and history still does not mention it. Trudeau and Biden, however, used their social media to congratulate their respective team.

“What a season for our Montreal Canadiens! You made us vibrate during these series and we all look forward to being behind you again next year, ”said Trudeau, Wednesday.

“Congratulations to the Tampa Bay Lightning for a second straight Stanley Cup,” Biden wrote on Friday. Your city and your country can be proud of you. ”

Legault altruistic towards Nevada

For his part, the governor of Nevada, Steve Sisolak, has finally honored his bet with the premier of Quebec, François Legault.

The Democratic Party member posted two photos on his Twitter account: one in which he wears a Canadiens jersey and the other showing the product sent to the winner of the bet, a bottle of Nevada whiskey.

“It took me a while to find a Montreal Canadiens jersey (they are in great demand) to honor my bet with François Legault, but I am a man of my word,” he wrote on his account. I congratulate Montreal on their tough battle this season. ”

The leader of the Coalition Avenir Québec has shown altruism by sending some local products in return. Thus, the governor of Nevada will receive three bottles of alcohol, namely a blue gin, a white gin and a red fruit liqueur.

“Even if we won the bet, here in Quebec, we have a sense of sharing!” Legault replied to Sisolak.

In addition, the 64-year-old politician clarified that he had not made a bet with the governor of Florida “given the disaster of the collapse of the Surfside building”.
