Lightning strikes, fires 52 houses in Manggarai, South Jakarta!

Dozens of houses were hit fire in Manggarai village, Tebet district, South Jakarta (Jaksel). A total of 12 residential homes and 40 semi-permanent rental homes caught fire after a lightning strike.

“The object consists of 12 residential houses and 40 rental houses, semi-permanent, densely populated buildings,” said South Jakarta Fire Department officer Sutaka in his statement on Saturday (12/17/ 2022).

The South Jakarta Fire Department received the report at 3:05 pm WIB. The fire was put out at 5.55pm WIB. There are 140 people lined up to put out the fire.

“Total deployment of 28 units (fire engines) and support, the number of personnel 140 people,” he said.

He said the fire is thought to have started from a bolt of lightning striking the television mast of one of the residents’ homes. Then, the residents reported to the RT and Tebet District Fire Department.

“During heavy rain accompanied by thunder and wind, lightning struck a television antenna in one of the homes of residents on behalf of Hajjah Nafisah and a fire ensued,” Sutaka said.

Sutaka said the loss from the fire was estimated at Rs 1.5 billion. There were no casualties from the fire.

“The estimated loss is Rp. 1,500,000,000, the total is 53 heads of households (KK), the total number of people is 230. There are no casualties,” he said.
