Six people were injured on Saturday when they took shelter under a tree struck by lightning in southwest Germany. Three victims are said to be in life-threatening condition.
The incident took place in Unterensingen, just southeast of Stuttgart. According to the German newspaper Bild cyclists had sought shelter at a farm because the weather turned.
Some of the cyclists took shelter in a shed and a group of six stood under a tree. When it was struck by lightning, adults and children would have fallen to the ground. One child was taken away by trauma helicopter, reports Bild. According to the newspaper, victims have also been taken to a hospital by ambulance.
