At a Thunderstorm near Los Angeles, California, a woman and her two dogs were struck by lightning and fatally injured.
The accident happened in the suburb of Pico Rivera when the 52-year-old was walking the dogs near a river in the morning, the sheriff’s office said, according to US media reports on Wednesday (local time).
Lightning kills woman – “One in a million chance”
“Suddenly, thunder and lightning started. The probability of something like this happening is one in a million – and it happened,” the police officer in charge was quoted as saying.
The weather service had warned of a storm front with thunderstorms and hail and possible fires caused by lightning for the region. As a result, several outdoor events in Pico Rivera were canceled and several beaches in Long Beach, in the same county, were closed as a precaution.
