Gaming monitors are getting faster every year. It is inevitable.
Alienware is pushing the boundaries when it comes to laptop screens. It will happen again when they soon launch a new gaming laptop with a 480 Hz screen. It’s not a new record for gaming monitors; at the time of writing it is Asus ROG Swift 500 Hz who holds the record. But it still holds the record for built-in displays in laptops.
The Alienware m17 R5 is built on the AMD Advantage platform with the new AMD Radeon RX 6850N XT 12 GB GDDR6 GPU and AMD Smart Technologies. The M17 R5 will thus be one of the most powerful 17″ laptops on the market.
The new 480Hz display is now available on the Alienware m17 R5 and Alienware x17 R2. The two machines are available with either AMD FreeSync or Nvidia G-Sync, depending on the choice of graphics card. There will also be versions with 120 Hz UHD screens (3840 x 2160) for those who want to trade high speed for high resolution.
Prices and exact configurations have not yet been announced.
