Salzburg will have to overcome Manuel Neuer in the round of 16 second leg of the soccer Champions League: Bayern’s captain, who was represented by Sven Ulreich in the 1-1 first leg, will make his comeback in goal against the Austrian champions on March 8 at the latest.
The 35-year-old underwent meniscus surgery just three weeks ago. After the 1-0 in the Bundesliga in Frankfurt, coach Julian Nagelsmann announced the lightning comeback. “Manu will return to goalkeeping training next week and will then train with the team again.” If everything goes well, the captain will be in goal against Leverkusen on Saturday, and Neuer will “very likely” be ready against Salzburg.
Dortmund failed in Augsburg
In Frankfurt, representative Ulreich kept a clean sheet in a league game for the first time since 2019.
