Revelations in the Amaliada thriller with the death of the babies was brought to light by the Light in the Tunnel which continues to investigate the tragic case. What Irini Mourtzoukou is heard saying shortly after the death of little Panagiotakis contradicts what was claimed later, Angeliki Nikolouli revealed on the show.
If nothing else, her reaction to hang up the phone after someone’s strict recommendation is also problematic.
What does Irini say shortly after the death of Panagiotakis
The Light in the Tunnel publishes the conversation with Irini in the summer of 2024 shortly after the sudden death of little Panagiotakis.
The show’s deep investigation led to Irini Murtzoukou, who was an eyewitness to the incident. Her words then, full of tension and wonder, brought to the surface the dramatic moments of the family in the Hospital, while the narration was interrupted, leaving hints for future revelations.
Journalist: Did you know that baby over there in Amaliada who died a few days ago? Did you know the family?
Irene: Yes.
Journalist: What happened to this, Irene?
Irini: The girl took him to the hospital just fine and the doctor came out after half an hour and told us that he was dead.
Journalist: So the baby made it to the hospital alive?
Irini: Yes, yes I was in front.
Journalist: He made it to the hospital alive for what reason? Did he get something and make it out alive say by running to the hospital? What exactly happened?
Irini: No, just ink it…
Journalist: In the good seats?
Irini: Yes, he was unconscious and we immediately took him and went upstairs.
At that time someone is heard strongly asking her to hang up the phone.
Irene interrupted the conversation and asked to contact another day.
“Ink and thesis…”
The next communication with Irini was on September 3, 2024. In statements that raise questions, Irini described the dramatic moments surrounding the sudden death of her friend’s 15-month-old child, who, while seemingly healthy, suddenly collapsed.
He denounced deficiencies in the health system, while pointing out that the Hospital did not have a pediatric unit, leaving the child’s mother in despair.
“I’m constantly running but at some point I’ll figure it out too. What can I explain to you about my friend’s baby? We are waiting for the results now to see. The first tests that came out were all spotless. The child was generally fine, she took him to the Health Center and from there they told her he was dead. The baby was 15 months old. This is all unacceptable. He took it there because he wasn’t breathing properly and suddenly blacked out. He had never experienced this before. They told us that there is a condition that now strikes infants from one and a half to nine years old. Many children leave like this and here a week before another two-year-old left,” he says characteristically.
As he reports, they had asked the child’s mother to take tests to see if she was taking substances while she was pregnant with little Panagiotakis, and she has hired a lawyer.
Describing how the incident happened, he said that “the child was in his pram and playing with a toy car and suddenly his head turns. He didn’t pass out, he turned his head and started blacking out. He wasn’t breathing properly. Then I took it to help. I even gave him artificial respiration.”
The police who went to the hospital don’t know who called her, but definitely… not her.
“Popi was mad at that time. He was banging on walls and shouting. He has another 8-year-old girl,” he added.
“Popi is not going to talk to you…”
Then she said that her friend and roommate, Popi, is not going to speak on the show and will not answer any questions.
“We are family friends with Popi. And when my case was made public, that’s where I lived. When my children died we lived together,” he says contrary to what we know so far.
“One month before the incident, we were all living together in Athens. The child had had his vaccinations, had been seen by a pediatrician, had been seen by a cardiologist and everything was clean. He had nothing. He was a very lively child. He was playing, laughing, not feeling sick or anything. I really don’t know what could have happened. The medical examiner writes an unspecified cause, pending toxicological, laboratory tests,” continued the 24-year-old.
When asked by the journalist if she could talk to the child’s mother, she categorically replied that “Popi is not going to talk to anyone”.
