According to the eyewitness, the woman was sitting in one of the front rows. “She had blood on her head and the show had to be stopped for at least half an hour. Jury member Gerard Joling was the most angry about it, he shouted something like: ‘How can this happen again?’ Then their microphones were turned off.”
Everyone was equally shocked by the popular singing show, in which famous Dutch people compete against each other while singing in special costumes. But fortunately the woman was not seriously injured. The show could continue. “It was almost ready. There was still one two-minute song to be finished,” the eyewitness said. “What I found striking: when the show continued, nothing was said about that woman. From the top of the audience people shouted: ‘Háá-lo, are you all right there?’
‘RTL’ confirms that there was an incident, but says “that a light fell on a lady. So not a gigantic set piece, but a light from the set,” said a spokeswoman. “She then got a plaster and just wanted to watch the show herself.” According to the eyewitness, ‘RTL’ is making it too small. “It was definitely bigger than a light and it was lighting on a cable that fell down when it was lifted up.”
