With the adoption of teleworking, setting up an office in your home has not always been easy, especially in small spaces. While some have moved to afford the extra room, others have had to be ingenious.
2021 will have been a year marked by buyers’ desire for space and comfort. Much has been said about the garden search, but the extra room has also been a criterion for buyers. And this additional space is often sought after to create a real office, while teleworking has been massively adopted since the start of the health crisis.
Hemea, a start-up specializing in development and renovation works, looks back on tips for setting up an office space in his home with some installation ideas.
“After confinement, individuals felt cramped at home. And we had many requests to modulate the spaces or enlarge the house. More generally, we are seeing an increase in the share of customers who want to improve their habitat and their quality of life, with energy renovations, the possibility of creating a workspace in restricted places or anything that can provide additional space”, explains Yann Depoys, CEO of Hemea.
Comfort and space optimization
Exit the makeshift desk on a end of the table in the living room or the imposing desk on trestles hastily bought during the first confinement. Solutions exist to optimize space and create a space suitable for working at home.
First of all, it will be necessary to pay attention to the light by favoring a source of natural light. “However, it is better to avoid the southern exposure which saturates the screens with light”, notes Hemea. Without forgetting good lighting so as not to tire your eyes.
For the choice of furniture, the professional advises not to skimp on the expense. “Be careful not to make small savings on the choice of seat because comfort is essential for a quality teleworking environment”, specifies the start-up.
Push the walls or create openings
For the office area, when a room cannot be fully furnished, it is possible to install multifunction furniture in certain living rooms, while avoiding passage areas.
Finally, last advice so that the office fits perfectly into the apartment or the house, “prefer offices in noble and clear materials”, which will not be too massive in a living room or in a living room.
