In recent months, Italy has witnessed and tested the terrible effects of the dear billsan increase that concerned the cost in electricity and gas bill bringing a large part of the population to their knees.

As if that were not enough, some scammers have taken advantage of the desperation caused by this situation by putting in place the so-called “Bill scam”. A scam that has met with considerable success for the architects of this obscene act, given the research at the lower cost of a large part of the Italian population.

What is the bill scam and how does it work

It’s about a fraud concerning the electricity bill and gas. Generally the procedure is as follows. It starts by being contacted by a questionable operator of our energy manager.

This trader starts talking with technical term, showing his knowledge on the subject of regulations, albeit in a very vague way. After that, the phone call begins to focus on a imminent increase of the cost in the bill, thus frightening the user, already exhausted by the very high costs of this period.

Given the justified concerns of the victim, this fake operator proposes salvation: a Government help which allows you to lower the price in your bill.

The victim then in most cases asks for more information about it, given the possibility of spending less. The scammer then illustrates the key points of the solution and offers him to sign a contract to accept government help, which in reality consists of signing the contract with a new operator.

The scammer, in effect, is a real trader but of a another energy manager. The unfortunate person, therefore, thinking of spending less will find himself affiliated with another energy manager, where he may spend equally if not more.
