“Ligabue Returns to San Giovanni for May Day Concert After 17-Year Absence”

On the stage set up in Piazza San Giovanni, to celebrate Labor Day, the return of a big name in Italian music was announced: Luciano Ligabue.

The return to San Giovanni

“The uncle of rock”, as the artist likes to call himself, after 17 years of absence he returns to perform in the eagerly awaited musical festival scheduled in Rome for May 1st. He did it first, four years after his last “Start” tour, a few months after his return to the stadiums which will see him protagonist in Milan and also in the capital, for the tour which this time is linked to the release of the single “Riderai”.

It was the rocker from Correggio himself who announced his presence on the stage in Piazza San Giovanni in an interview with Corriere della Sera. It was a “Decision taken after the umpteenth ‘why not?’ (and there have been many in my career) that I asked myself” explained the musician.

The role of artists

“May 1st is always the day of all workers and as such it is always one of my favourites. And if I find it hard to call writing songs and singing them on stage ‘work’ – underlined Liga in the interview – it is still true that in my twenties and thirties, I did a lot of ‘real work’ and maybe my passion for this party was formed right there. Having said that, songs and their authors cannot solve such complex problems but an act of presence is still something”.

May Day concert: all the news.

The stage at the Concertone therefore precedes by a few months the return to the “live” of Ligabue who, starting from July, will also bring the new single, just launched: “Riderai” to the stadiums. On the stage in Piazza San Giovanni, the rocker will meet many artists from the national and international scene, who have given their support to the appointment on May 1st.
