Mexico City. After the incidents of violence involving América and Pumas fans last Sunday at the Ciudad de los Deportes stadium, the Liga Mx reported that 18 people were evicted from the building and that it is working in coordination with the Secretariat of Citizen Security of the City of Mexico to investigate the events that altered the order during date 10 of the 2024 Apertura Tournament.
“Since becoming aware of the incidents, the League has followed up on this situation promptly and reiterates its commitment to the continuous improvement of safety in the stadiums,” said the official statement.
In videos broadcast yesterday on social networks, different outbreaks of anger between followers of both teams are observed. One of them, in the stalls area, featured a couple of people wearing Eagles shirts, who beat university fans until they were bloodied. No arrests were reported.
In another episode of violence, already in the streets surrounding the Nochebuena neighborhood, a group of Americanists left a Pumas fan lying on the ground, after kicking and hitting him in the head. The police elements were also unable to intervene.
“The League invites all fans to enjoy the events in peace and, if faced with a risk situation, to approach the authorities present,” the document concluded.
