Liga MX: Gilberto Mora makes history in the Xolos vs. León match

At the start of the sixth day of the Liga MX we enjoyed a historic moment in the match that closed the activity on Friday. Tijuana received León with the intention of climbing to the top of the general table of the tournament. In the starting eleven, the name of Gilberto Rafael Mora Zambrano stood out with the number 251 on his back. The forward became the youngest scorer in the history of Liga MX and also gave the Xolos the three points.

Gilberto Rafael Mora Zambrano has become the youngest player to score a goal in Liga MX. The young forward is 15 years and 320 days old and at his young age he made his debut in the tournament, and also helped his team to add three more points.

Gilberto Mora is a player who feels the Tijuana jersey since his father was a member of the team during the promotion stage. His historic goal came thanks to a series of rebounds inside the penalty area that left the ball at the foot of the “kid”. His first words after his goal were:

Mora was born on October 14, 2008 in Tuxtla Gutiérrez. He is 1.60 meters tall and his best position is in the attacking midfield. Gilberto is part of the Mexican U-17 National Team. On Friday, August 30, the name of the Mexican Gilberto Mora will be recorded in the history books of Mexican soccer.

This “new” section within the Liga MX regulations consists of players under 23 years old having to play a certain number of minutes. The rule stipulates that minors have to add up to 1,000 minutes throughout the Apertura 2024. It was thanks to this dynamic that Gilberto Mora was able to achieve his feat.
