Judge Michael G. Bowman delivered the verdict for DeAngelo with a straight face. Lifetime. “When a person commits monstrous acts, they must be locked up so that he cannot harm anyone else,” he said.
For three days, victims had told in gruesome detail what the “Golden State Killer” had done to them. DeAngelo was portrayed as “inhuman”, “a crazy monster” and “a terrible man”. A victim’s daughter raised her middle finger and told DeAngelo to go to hell.

DeAngelo committed 13 murders and nearly 50 rapes between 1975 and 1986. His work area was so extensive that the police believed that several perpetrators were at work. Who he was remained a mystery until, thanks to DNA research, he ran into the lamp in April 2018.
He now has to go to prison for the rest of his life. He had known all the facts, and perhaps that is why he escaped the death penalty. Just before the verdict, he took the floor in Sacramento court. “I have listened to your statements. To each of them. And I’m really sorry for who I did wrong. ”
