Life-size elephant statues in New York promote climate protection

With 100 life-size elephant statues in New York, several groups and artists are calling for more commitment to nature conservation. The wooden elephants are one of the largest public art installations in New York history. They will be visible on sidewalks and squares in southwest Manhattan until the end of October. All the animals were handmade, based on live elephants in India. Visitors are encouraged to touch the sculptures. Since their installation, they have become a popular selfie subject among the skyscrapers for tourists and locals alike. The organizers also want to use the campaign to collect donations that will benefit the protection of elephants and their habitat. In total, the images will tour the United States for a year.
