Life of Jonathann Daval in Prison: An Insight by His Mother.

Martine Henry, the mother of Alexia Daval’s murderer, explains the life of her son in prison, sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Jonathann Daval was sentenced on November 21, 2020 to twenty-five years’ imprisonment for the murder of his wife Alexia whose partially charred body was discovered on October 30, 2017 in Gray-la-Ville.

The 39-year-old man who played grieving husband for months before finally confessing, was imprisoned in the Ensisheim prison in Alsace.

His mother, Martine Henry who released a book on the case in November 2022, “Me, mother of Jonathann”, also granted an interview with the magazine Gala where she explains her son’s life in prison.

The latter visits him in prison and she has decided to share some anecdotes and information about what he does with his days.

A work

Before the murder of his wife, Jonathann Daval worked as a computer scientist. But since he was imprisoned, he did not work.

But recently, he has taken up a job in prison. His mother explains:In prison, he is much better, that’s for sure. He finally has a job since he is no longer in solitary confinement, as he was for three and a half years. He does a lot of sports in prison too.”

And to add:He makes electric roller coils, extension cords.“A far cry from his old job.

“Well, it’s not not very interesting, but he has a job, he is happy. It keeps him busy all day,” she adds.

Specific salary and hours

Even in prison, all work generates a salary. Martine Henry specifies: “He earns approximately 600 euros per month. He works from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., on a chain.”

Serial killer Guy Georges very polite

During his incarceration, Jonathann Daval was logically brought into contact with prisoners. And especially the killer of eastern Paris, Guy Georges.

Jonathann Daval’s mother explained to Gala that she did not know him. “To be honest, I probably heard about him years ago when his affair broke, but I didn’t take it all in.”

It doesn’t matter, even if the serial killer and rapist has committed atrocious crimes, Martine Henry considers him a fellow prisoner like the others.

Besides, she specifies who happens to meet him in the visiting room. And that she finds him polite. “Guy George also come to greet us when we visit Jonathann. From what I’ve seen, I can’t blame him because he didn’t do anything to me. He was always polite.”
