Freiburg (dpa / lsw) – The presiding judge at the Freiburg district court detailed the consequences of the knife attack on two women: A 59-year-old died, including heart and lungs were injured by a stab. Her 30-year-old daughter suffered dozens of broken bones, some of them complex. The judge spoke of displaced fragments on the forehead and skull – and sentenced the younger woman’s 63-year-old ex-partner to life imprisonment on Wednesday. In addition, the chamber determined the particular gravity of the guilt. This means that early release from prison after 15 years is legally possible, but in practice it is almost impossible.
The “incredible brutality” with which the martial artist attacked the women speaks for this decision, the judge explained. The physical and psychological consequences for the survivors are immense and will certainly accompany them for the rest of their lives. The verdict for murder, attempted murder and dangerous bodily harm is not final, the German can appeal. The man had essentially confessed to the crime. (Az. 1 Ks 200 Js 1108/23)
The court was convinced that he wanted revenge for the separation. The ex-partner, who had been a student at the defendant’s martial arts school, ended the relationship. Above all, she was uncomfortable with the big age difference and the fact that the man was still married.
But the narcissistic 63-year-old did not accept this, said the judge. He therefore stalked the woman and blackmailed her with a secretly shot sex tape, from which he sent excerpts to the current and former employer. The defendant was about mastery, power and total control, the judge said. Ultimately also in the course of destruction. When leaving after the crime, the man said to a witness: “The bitch deserves it.” He acted guided by anger and thoughts of revenge.
The man ambushed and attacked the women in January in front of the 30-year-old’s home in Freiburg. Mother and daughter wanted to flee to the apartment, the 63-year-old caught up with them. According to the judge, when the mother stood in his way to protect her child with outstretched arms, he stabbed the unsuspecting and defenseless woman several times. “In a fraction of a second, she had neither the opportunity to flee nor to defend herself.” He also brutally stabbed his daughter. It was pure coincidence that she survived.
The court did not follow the explanations of the defense that the man was looking for a conversation and still addressed his ex-girlfriend by her nickname “Muckelchen”. “If he just wanted to talk, he could have just walked away,” the judge said. When he was being blackmailed, he told the woman that he knew he was hurting her, but he couldn’t do without being close to her. A few weeks before the crime, she obtained a ban on contact and approach.
The accused had previously been conspicuous under criminal law and was in prison several times for minor drug offenses. According to the judge, he had already recognized during the murder trial that he would pay his former girlfriend compensation for pain and suffering and the relatives of the dead survivor’s compensation.
