Lies and Truths About the COVID Vaccine

The distribution of the first vaccines against COVID-19 is getting closer to being a reality.

But many are afraid to put it on and some say it could be lethal.

To which an expert epidemiologist responds: “None of those studies that they have carried out have deaths associated with the vaccine. Unfortunately, they do have deaths associated with COVID, COVID does kill,” says Dr. Stephanie Sterling, chief of Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases. from NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn.

Another rumor circulating on social networks is that Bill Gates has invested by microchipping vaccines to control humanity.

To which Dr. Sterling points out: “Those vaccines don’t have a microchip, I don’t know that technology for humans.”

Meanwhile, some anti-vaccine movements argue that it could modify DNA.

“They’re using it on a platform that in no way can change a person’s body system or all of a person’s genes. That vaccine is definitely not GMO,” says Sterling.

And faced with the main fear of being the first, the doctor specified: “It is important to know that no person is going to be the first. Because more than 40,000 people in the world, more than 37,000 people in the United States have received this vaccine.”

And another myth associated with vaccines that this expert wants to banish: is that you get sick when you get vaccinated with the virus you are trying to fight.

“There is no way that the vaccine can give a person the infection. What does happen is that the body is going to react to the vaccine, like the body has an infection and that is the reaction we want,” Sterling details.

In addition, the companies that are producing them such as Pfizer and Moderna claim that it is 95.4% effective.

Again, Dr. Sterling emphasizes: “‘The level of antibody that it makes is robust is good and does protect against infection. And more than that, if one person, few people, who received the vaccine did receive or catch COVID none of those people were severe COVID. ”

That is why the doctor confidently says that she will be one of the first to apply it, without hesitating for a second: “Wherever they tell me to stand in line. There I will be queuing to apply.”
