Solers (Movistar Team) reached the finish line in three hours, 47 minutes and four seconds. He was 19 seconds ahead of a group of nine followers, with Slovenian Primožs Rogličs (“Jumbo-Visma”) as the fastest winner of the first stage, and the second, for the second day in a row, taking the third place – Latvian Krista Neiland teammate Irish Dens Martins (Israel Start- Up Nation ”).

Liepiņš lost 16 minutes and seven seconds to the leader, ranking 90th among 173 cyclists.

In the overall standings is Roglič, who is nine seconds behind Martin, and 11 seconds behind second-place winner Richard Carapass (“Ineos Grenadiers”), who was fourth on Wednesday.

A section of 166.1 kilometers is planned for Thursday, which includes one third-category ascent and a finish with a first-category ascent.

The Spanish tour will finish on November 8 in Madrid. The first six days of the race will overlap with this year’s Giro d’Italia.

This year, the first three stages of Vuelta a Espana were planned in the Netherlands, but due to a national pandemic, the prestigious cycling race was refused. As a result, Vuelta a Espana will have only 18 stages this year, not 21.
