“Liepāja” is supplemented with a two-time Gagarin Cup champion

“Optibet” hockey league (OHL) club “Liepāja” has added Russian striker Dmitry Pestunov, according to the information on the website of the Latvian Hockey Federation (LHF).

The 36-year-old hockey player started this season at the Shakhter club in Soligorsk, Belarus, where he stood out with 35 goals and 12 assists in 35 games. He played for the Hungarian team DEAC last season, while the Kazakh-born player represented the Romanian club Gyergyoi for two seasons in both the Hungarian Open and the Romanian League.

Previously, during his career, Pestunov represented the Continental Hockey League (KHL) units such as Omsk Avangard, Chelyabinsk Traktor, Dynamo Moscow and Avtomobilist Ekaterinburg, but before KHL the striker also played Magnitogorsk Metallurg and Moscow Spartak.

He has spent a total of 462 matches in the main event at KHL and another 70 in the play-off tournament. Pestunov is a two-time winner of the Gagarin Cup, winning it in 2012 and 2013 at the Moscow Dynamo, led by Oleg Znarok and Harry Vītoliņš.

With 29 points in 21 games, “Liepāja” takes the third place in the OHL.
