It has already been reported that the game played on Saturday at the “Daugava” stadium between “Liepājas” and RFS units tackled problems with artificial lighting. In the 54th minute of the game, one third of the stadium lighting went out. After a short break, Mārtiņš Ķiguram continued the game with a precise shot. But then the light went out completely on two poles.
At the time of stopping the game, Liepāja was in the lead with the result 1: 0, but the Super League organizing committee decided to cancel the match completely by the 66th minute. It was decided to replay it on 25 November.
On Friday afternoon, the Kurzeme team sent a letter to the chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of the Latvian Football Federation (LFF) Jevgenija Tverjanovič-Bore, in which it is indicated that the regulations of the Latvian Premier League championship have been violated, as well as the Disciplinary Regulations.
In the letter, “Liepāja” reiterates that at the extraordinary meeting the members of the LFF competition organizing committee have proposed to spend the rest of the game on the morning of October 18, which was abandoned by the RFS unit, which left the stadium. Riga club “Liepāja” was offered to pay for accommodation and meals.
The club also recalls the circumstances of force majeure, due to which the game was suspended. The unit recalls the association of European football associations a month ago (UEFA) The European League match at Skonto Stadium between Riga FC and Tre Friori, during which lighting was caused by a storm. This match was resumed the following morning, from the time of the break, which is also provided for by the International Football Federations Association (FIFA) Disciplinary Code.
On the other hand, with regard to the violated points of the regulations, “Liepāja” points out that “the Super League organization committee does not have the right to make decisions on the resumption of the game, but on the abolition of disciplinary penalties”. The club recalls that such rights belong only to the LFF Disciplinary Committee and the Appeals Committee.
For this reason, “Liepāja” refers to the point of the Disciplinary Regulations, which provides for a team that refuses to continue the game, to award a loss with a result of 0: 3 and to impose a fine of 700 euros. According to the game delegate’s report, the game was not completed because RFS refused to continue it, writes “Liepāja” in the letter.
The football club RFS has not made an official announcement since the match, but in the discussions on Saturday, its representatives indicated that the team must prepare for the Latvian Cup match scheduled for Wednesday. Club in Riga derby with the result 3: 2 defeated the rivals “Riga” FC.
In turn, JSC “Distribution network“has previously pointed out that power outages can be attributed not only to problems in the public electricity grid, but also in the internal electricity grids of customers’ property.
