She dedicated her compliments to the group “Sudden Lights”, but at the same time Liene also criticized the 2018 representative Laura Rizzotto, mentioning that “some people thought that some foreigner with dubious Latvian roots was more worthy to represent LV and failed like an old farm, and so we haven’t seen him since then either.”
“These guys can be sent to Eurovision and not be afraid that they will be ashamed of the wrong notes. But even that was not the main thing in this performance. In my opinion, it has been proven countless times that songs that are not in the standard Eurovision style win,” Liene expresses her opinion.

At 9:10 p.m., the final of Latvian Television’s song contest “Supernova” will be broadcast live on LTV1. LTV7 will be able to watch the live broadcast with sign language translation. Ten participants will compete for the opportunity to represent Latvia at the 67th international Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool, Great Britain.
During the live broadcast of the “Supernova” semi-finals, the audience and the jury decided that the following will participate in the final: Alice Haijima, Luize, Raum, Toms Kalderauskis, Artūrs Hatti, Patriša, the group “Sudden Lights”, the group “24. Avenue”, Avéi and Markus Riva.
The audience will be entertained by guest artists at the “Supernova” final: the show will be opened by the 2019 Eurovision winner from the Netherlands – Duncan Laurencs, who will perform the song “Arcade”, while at the end, Elīza Legzdiņa will perform – a singer of Latvian origin who lives and builds a music career in Great Britain. Eliza performs hip-hop, electronic music, as well as dance-pop and R&B. In the song “Roll With Me” she will be joined by Beanie – the drummer of the group “Rudimental”.

It has been determined in the lottery that the song of Latvia, the winner of the “Supernova” contest, will be performed in the first semi-final of the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest on May 9. Serbia, Sweden, Ireland, Moldova, Switzerland, Norway, Israel, Portugal, Netherlands, Croatia, Finland, Azerbaijan, Malta and the Czech Republic will also participate. The second semi-final of Eurovision will be held on May 11, the final – on May 13.
On May 14, 2022, the representatives of Ukraine “Kalush Orchestra” won the Eurovision final with the song “Стефания”, however, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) decided to entrust the organization of the 2023 contest on behalf of Ukraine to Great Britain.
