The Berlin cult series “Liebling Kreuzberg” is returning as a feature film! The modern interpretation of the classic series “Liebling Kreuzberg”, which was broadcast on Das Erste from 1989-1998, focuses on two women: Lisa Liebling and Dr. Talia Jahnka. Talia, who holds a doctorate in law, has now taken over Robert Liebling’s law firm and given it a financially lucrative course. But that is all over now, because Liebling’s granddaughter Lisa is on the scene. Fresh out of university, she wants to continue where her grandfather left off. The disparate lawyers, each feminist in their own way, provide the field of tension for the cases of equality, justice and humanity told in a lifelike manner by author Andrej Sorin and director Franziska Margarete Hoenisch. Anja Franke and Roswitha Schreiner, two familiar faces from the original series that started in 1986, are reunited in the sequel. Winfried Glatzeder, alongside Krug one of the most famous stars of GDR cinema of the 1970s, can be seen in a supporting role as a pro bono client who seems to have fallen out of time.
The hip Kreuzberg is no longer the typical Berlin neighborhood it was during the lifetime of the legendary lawyer Liebling. The once chaotic and lovable law firm has also changed in 18 years: Dr. Talia Jahnka, the last business partner of the generous founder, focuses on lucrative business mandates. When Liebling’s granddaughter and shareholder heir Lisa shows up to join the law firm, Talia is not very enthusiastic. Her first mandate is already a source of tension: Lisa represents a senior citizen who is fighting against a ban on entering his regular café, for which he was partly responsible. With a pragmatism that would have pleased her grandfather, she makes a deal with the café owner Mai. In return, Lisa not only has to help Mai’s parents with an eviction suit against a cunning rent nomad. When Lisa inadvertently violates the rules of her profession, she puts her grandfather’s inheritance and her career at risk. Now Lisa not only has to win the case, but also prove herself as a problem solver…
