Levy’s family said that in 2009 he was seriously injured in an operational activity in Gaza, while he was a fighter in combat engineering. “Lidor was an exemplary father, partner, brother and son, a man full of love, nobility and devotion, an anchor for his family and a role model for those around him,” the family said. “The purpose of his life was to help people with modesty and humility. Lidor left a huge void in our hearts, we will continue to live according to the values he instilled in us, for his immortality.”
The attack in Gan Yavneh took place last Sunday late in the evening, when a Palestinian terrorist from the village of Dora near Hebron entered the mall and stabbed an exerciser who came out of the gym on the top floor. He then entered the gym and stabbed another trainee, left and went down to the cafe downstairs and stabbed another young man there. Two of those stabbed, including Levy, were seriously injured, and another one was moderately injured.
The terrorist – Muamen al-Khalil, 19 years old – was shot dead by a policeman who arrived at the scene and a security guard of the municipality. The police investigation revealed that he entered Israel through a breach in the separation fence in the Hebron area. The two residents of the south, in their thirties and forties, were arrested on suspicion of driving him to the scene of the attack.
