We are already very used to various discount events in the Czech Republic. After all, many do not buy at standard prices, but search for all goods only after their price is temporarily reduced by dozens of percent. It is a certain evil of the domestic market, because according to experts, standard prices are inflated so that they can then be greatly discounted.
You will save a lot
Lidl is one of the retail chains that tries to approach the event in a slightly different way. In addition to traditional discounts, it also offers different themed weeks every week, whether it is for example a trip to French, Italian or Greek products or perhaps the opportunity to buy retro products as we knew them from the past.
But the truth is that these actions are already a bit boring and are repeated all the time. That’s why it came as a surprise when Lidl suddenly announced a completely different type of discount.
He has decided to reduce the price of several important categories of products across the board, be it vegetables, pastries, eggs or fruit. Between October 9 and 15, they will be available with a 10% discount. At the same time, this will also apply to currently discounted goods, so it will be possible to combine discounts.

It’s not for everyone
But there is a catch. Not everyone will be able to use the discount, but only seniors over the age of 65. This will lead to really curious situations at the cash register. While until now, mainly young people had to show their IDs when buying alcohol, now pensioners will take them out so that the saleswomen can verify their age.
The chain itself admits that it responds to several current socio-economic phenomena. First of all, there is still high inflation, and in this way Lidl wants to give some relief to pensioners.

However, he himself is also throwing ashes on his head in the sense that he has recently linked many different events and discounts to his mobile application, which pensioners often do not know how to use properly. Therefore, they miss out on various benefits, which they don’t like. So this event should compensate them at least a little. At the same time, it can be expected that it will be a great success.
