A Lidl customer vents her anger on Facebook. When she returns an older deposit slip, the cashier rejects her. Apparently this voucher is no longer valid. This is how Lidl reacts to the feedback.

Whether at Kaufland, Lidl or other supermarkets and discounters: there are always interesting situations to be observed when shopping. Whether it’s traffic tickets being handed out in the parking lot or breakdowns at the checkout – it rarely gets boring when shopping for groceries.

Also in the online area and on social media, customers of the discounter giants always cause a stir. Above all, they vent there about annoyances and problems and complain about unpleasant incidents or the pricing policy. A Lidl customer has now complained on Facebook about a deposit receipt problem in a branch.

Lidl customer complains on Facebook about an invalid deposit voucher

On the official Facebook page of Lidl Germany, she vents her anger. “Hello dear Lidl team, unfortunately I am a bit disappointed with your service. Yesterday in Lidl (…) I wanted to redeem my older deposit voucher of 6.50 euros, since you can only redeem it in the same branch.” The customer finds this fact alone “not customer-friendly”, as she continues.

When the deposit receipt was presented, the cashier claimed that this receipt was no longer valid. According to the customer, the printing date is October last year. She continues: “In this difficult time, especially the food costs, I find that impossible. Then I will probably soon switch to another provider who is a bit more accommodating. Kind regards.”

This is how Lidl reacts to the Facebook feedback: Deposit vouchers can be redeemed indefinitely

The social media team of the discounter giant of the Schwarz Group immediately commented on the customer’s Facebook post. Lidl Germany thanks you for the customer feedback and comments as follows: “Of course, the deposit voucher can be redeemed in the specified branch without any time limit. The barcode on the receipt just has to be legible.” In addition, the code can be entered manually by the colleague at the checkout.

All in all a fair and clear answer. Now the question remains whether the cashier at the Lidl checkout was simply unmotivated and unfriendly? In line with the latest complaints ranking published by “Reklamation24”, this assumption would at least not be far-fetched. In the ranking, Lidl and Netto share the podium of the unfriendliest employees, like echo24.de reported. It would also be possible that both codes on the receipt were no longer readable. One can only speculate about this.
