It was only after the prosecutor’s office intervened that my predecessor felt that the work was not clean and appointed an inspection, said the official Minister of Ecology.
The investor in the Aleppo case envisaged the construction of a resort complex, not a support facility. This became known from the answer of the acting Minister of Environment and Water Asen Lichev within the parliamentary control of a question of the MP Dimitar Naidenov from “Democratic Bulgaria” for actions and inactions of the Ministry of Environment and Water (MOEW) on the case, BTA reported. .
“I cannot agree that the investor, who submitted the investment intention for the initial assessment of the EIA, wrote that he would build a support facility. Nothing like that. I have in my hands the decision of the director of RIEW Burgas from December 29, 2017. The investor wants to agree on an investment proposal for the construction of a resort complex, including “Aleppo Village” and “Aleppo Breeze Village”. resort complex with a total area of 20,858 square meters. Further on are painted rooms, toilets, bathrooms. Somewhere down it is written that it will play the role of a supporting structure, but these are the pylons in the sand and rocks, which then serve as a stronger foundation for the building, “the minister explained.
Lichev recalled that he had replaced the director of RIEW-Burgas, who had signed this decision. All the documentation is now in the prosecutor’s office, we are waiting for a court decision, he said.
According to him, from 2017 to 2020, the MoEW has not done anything on the case. Lichev pointed out that an inspection was made by the previous regular minister (Emil Dimitrov – b.r.), but only after the prosecutor’s office asked him the question about “Aleppo”.
“He then felt that the work was not clean probably from 2017 to 2019 – 2020 and appoints a working group of lawyers who tell him that the decision of the director of the RIEW has entered into force and cannot be revoked by the Minister, nor can it be appealed, and therefore it is best to leave it to the prosecutor’s office protest and the court should annul it “, Lichev commented.
We support the opinion of the prosecutor’s office that the project has not been subject to the statutory EIA, the minister added.
