(sks). Derby victory in southern Hesse: With a 72:55 (38:27) in Langen, Lich Basketball was able to maintain the championship lead in the second regional league.
It was the third win in the third game for the Wetterstadt team, and that against their strongest opponent by far. Like Lich, TV Langen II won the first two games, but has now lost its clean slate. The positive basket balance of Central Hesse is an impressive 98 points plus. No team in the league has so far scored more baskets, and none less approved.
The better start belonged to the home side, who started with a 10: 5. Lich coach Viktor Klassen asked for a break and swore his team back on. Then the guests put a 12-0 run on the floor, which meant the 23:16 lead after the first quarter. In the second section, Lich remained the more aggressive team. The 30 fans from the Wetter who traveled with them pushed their colors forward with all their might. Yannik Ribbecke led the way once more, who scored 17 of his 25 points in the first half alone.
Since the leader had to play through up to this point, Klassen ordered him to the bench in the meantime. The Mittelhessen remain the team of the hour. Against the bottom of the table Frankfurt-Griesheim, the fourth victory should follow at the end of October. In between, the approaching autumn holidays ensure a two-week break from playing.
