ALL POSTPONED – The Ministry of Transport has just communicated the measures concerning the driving licenses e i Pink sheets, the documents that entitle you to practice driving with an expert next to you: a series of extensions which prompted a group of Turin driving schools to organize an online meeting in the presence of trade associations, politicians and journalists. The Pink Sheets expiring between January 31st and October 28th 2020 remain valid until January 13th 2021. If the 6 months to support the Practice Test of driving expire between January 31 and October 15, 2020, the deadline for taking the practical exam is extended to January 13, 2021. The practical tests are suspended until November 29 in Campania, Tuscany and the Autonomous Province of Bolzano; until 3 December in Abruzzo, Calabria, Lombardy, Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta. As for driving licenses, these are the new terms: 31 December 2020 for those expired between 31 January and 31 May 2020; March 31, 2021 in case of expiry between June 1 and August 31, 2020; December 31, 2020 for deadlines between September 1 and December 30.
PARALIZED MOTORIZATIONS – The problem, says D’Amelio, one of the organizers of the meeting, is that the Motorizations are paralyzed. Even before the Cmvid era, the situation was problematic; now, it is unmanageable. Turin’s driving schools have tried in vain to contact the city’s Motor Vehicle Directorate. Then they asked for the intervention of all the parliamentarians elected in Piedmont, without distinction of political color. Objective: to protect road safety, allowing the army of people who today drive with the Pink Sheet to take exams as soon as possible.
PROPOSALS – How to get out? Unbureaucratization is the watchword that emerges from today’s meeting: perhaps by ensuring that the candidate can access the motorist’s portal through digital identity (SPID), eliminating all paperwork. It would then be useful to allow students to do theory exams also through the use of state officials other than that of the DMV (local police for example), and the practice exams near the reference driving school. Finally, there is the request to make a theory course compulsory and to increase the certified driving hours necessary to access thepractical exam, with the obligation to do more in case of rejection: all this, with a view to bringing on the roads new motorists who are more prepared and aware, and therefore safer for themselves and for others.
