Libyan Foreign Minister Najla Mangoush has been suspended from her duties as a precautionary measure for meeting with Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen in Rome, Italy, according to a decree signed by Abdelhamid Dbeibah.
A commission chaired by the Minister of Justice has been set up to investigate this case revealed by the Franco-Israeli channel i24 News.
The Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs justified this meeting by asserting, in a press release, that it was not scheduled and that no official discussion took place between the Libyan minister and her Israeli counterpart, who had been involuntarily approached in the presence of the head of Italian diplomacy.
The statement from the Libyan Foreign Ministry reiterated Libya’s constant positions on Arab issues, thus denying any project of rapprochement with the Zionist entity and renewing support for the Palestinian cause.
