Léon Mba International Airport was awarded at the 70th general assembly of the Regional Conference of the International Airports Association in Dakar, Senegal.
According to Arise Infrastructure Service, this distinction recognizes the airport’s exceptional performance in environmental management and sustainable development. This prestigious recognition places Libreville airport at the top of its category regarding environmental management.
This award comes in a context where for many years, the ADL has been engaged in an environmental approach aimed at achieving several objectives. These include compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements, reducing its greenhouse gas emissions, and optimizing waste management. These efforts have led to the airport’s active participation in the Airport Carbon Accreditation process, launched by the Airports Association International (ACI), aimed at complying with the objectives of the Conference of the Parties (COP) and intensifying efforts to limit the overall increase in global temperature, as well as Gabon’s commitments.
Thanks to its environmental protection and sustainable development efforts, ADL is now the first airport in Central Africa and the second in Africa to be certified carbon neutral. Remember that Léon Mba Airport in Libreville is certified by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Learn about Gabon News.
