Glendale residents in Queens already have a new library… this morning the building that spent three years in repairs and remodeling reopened. Something that the neighbors looked forward to.
“Three years from now it has been worth the wait and that’s good. I already have my card and then I make a call to everyone who lives in this area, come and take advantage, “said Galo Zurita, a neighbor.
“It was about time they opened, well… for the ‘children. My wife comes here with my grandchildren, ”added Israel, another neighbor.
The library, built in 1935, was remodeled inside and out.
The City’s Design and Construction department posted a message on social media celebrating the reopening of the library.
Today we joined @qplnyc, elected officials, and community leaders to celebrate the reopening of the Glendale Library. The library is now accessible for all patrons and includes upgrades to the interior as well as a restored rear garden. Congrats to all! ???? pic.twitter.com/03sNhy7o8Z

Outside, the building is now accessible to people with disabilities and there is a new elevator at the Myrtle Avenue entrance.
Inside, the reading rooms were rebuilt to accommodate more users. And they enabled several windows to have more clarity.
