Heavy water washed away several houses on Thursday night and also invaded the house of TV and radio presenter Libor Bouček. Neighbors and firefighters rushed to help him, his wife Gábina and one-year-old Albert. As he admitted, he did not know how to cope with the unexpected influx of water.
The whole of the Czechia is being hit by very strong storms accompanied by heavy downpours this week. Firefighters are reporting hundreds of calls to both downed trees and flooded homes. Moderator Libor Bouček also needed their help on Thursday night. Although he usually only informs Bohemia about the ravages of natural elements, now he felt the destructive power of nature first hand.
“There is a first time for everything. Even centimeters of water in the house, even our own inability to stop the inflow (or the stream, which we suddenly stood in the way of), and the first call to line 150. Nature is powerful, stronger than us, and water is an element. I used to use that line as a catchphrase, but after tonight I know exactly how realistic it can be,” the presenter confided in the morning to fans via Instagram.
At the same time, he thanked the firefighters for their alertness, understanding and support, but also the neighbors who did not leave him alone, even though they could sleep peacefully. “A I would like to thank Gabriela Boučková most of all for the fact that we manage everything in harmony and love, which cannot be beaten even by the stream that springs up in the dressing room, with a small ripple in the bathroom, and turns into a river at the end of the utility room“, he added.
All the plans that Bouček had prepared for Thursday will now have to be put aside. He also waits a while to play with his son. “I’m going to borrow a wet vacuum, get some dryers, and recap what happened. And Albert? There will be a bit more with Peppa Pig. To all those who have encountered water in a similar way – stay strong!” he concluded.
Friends and fans express their support to the presenter, although some did not forgive even a little nudge. “I don’t know you’d rather not take them to the sea… Hold on” responded Monika Marešová, the wife of another famous presenter, for example. What manners are these? You are wet!” added a message from the Czech film Michal. “Floating floor?” then another comment appeared. “Sometimes as parents we go overboard. Make the children’s dreams come true by heating up the barracks so that the little one can see what a firefighter’s intervention looks like… keep your nerves and let the damage be as minimal as possible,” wished Wendelin.
However, according to the presenter, son Albert fortunately did not notice the nightly disturbances in the house at all. “He fell asleep after the intervention of the firemen. He just doesn’t let anything distract him when he’s about to sleep,” he joined the debates.
